Preview: Keith Bears vs. Johnson Eagles
Keith is 8-2 against Johnson since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keith has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 914 points over their last 13 contests.
Keith scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Linden 96-37 at home. Given Keith's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Linden is ranked 455th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miles Hannah continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tommy Tisdale III, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Johnson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by University Charter on the road and fell 74-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Johnson has suffered yet this season.
Keith pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Johnson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Keith took their win against Johnson in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 62-42. Will Keith repeat their success, or does Johnson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
