Trinity Collegiate takes loss despite strong efforts from Makayla Legette and Autumn Kind

Recap: Trinity Collegiate Titans vs. Heathwood Hall Episcopal Highlanders

On Monday, the Trinity Collegiate Titans faced the Heathwood Hall Episcopal Highlanders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Trinity Collegiate received a tough blow as they fell 70-56 to the Highlanders. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Autumn Kind and Makayla Legette certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Kind scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Legette scored 18 points along with seven assists and two steals. Legette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Saleese Kind was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.

Leading Heathwood Hall Episcopal to victory were Lauren Jacobs and Sabreya Monsanto. Jacobs dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds, while Monsanto almost dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jacobs has scored at least a third of Heathwood Hall Episcopal's points. Another player making a difference was Shamarie Hayes, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Trinity Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Heathwood Hall Episcopal, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Collegiate will face off against the Swampcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Laurence Manning Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Titans are ranked 22nd). As for Heathwood Hall Episcopal, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Falcons at 6:15 p.m. on January 30th.
