Soccer Game Preview: Wyatt vs. Mansfield Summit

The Wyatt Chaparrals will head out to square off against the Mansfield Summit Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wyatt is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Trimble Tech just ended the team's 18-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The shutout was out of character for the Chaparrals seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Summit managed to keep up with Everman until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mansfield Summit came up short against Everman, falling 3-0. The Jaguars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Wyatt's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 20-2. As for Mansfield Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7-2.

Everything went Wyatt's way against Mansfield Summit in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, as Wyatt made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wyatt since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
