For the second straight game, Twentynine Palms will face off against Coachella Valley. The Wildcats will host the Mighty Arabs  at 3:15  p.m.  on Thursday. Twentynine Palms is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3  runs per game  this season.
Twentynine Palms is headed into the  matchup having just  suffered their biggest  defeat since April 19, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against  Coachella Valley, falling  12-2. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Wildcats' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
For Coachella Valley's part,  Jesus Rivera made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. Rivera also  tossed a  walk, which is notable because Coachella Valley is 2-1 when he allows at  most  one  walk, but 3-7 otherwise. Rivera was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with four  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in February of 2024.
 In other batting news, Coachella Valley let  Vince Ponce and  Alfredo Avalos run wild. Ponce  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while  Avalos  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. What's more,  Avalos posted two  RBI, the most he's  had since back in February.  Angel Diaz was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
 Coachella Valley  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twentynine Palms only posted  an  OBP of  .192.
 Coachella Valley moved to 5-8 with that  victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Twentynine Palms,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-3.
