Baseball Recap: Chattahoochee Find Success

While Chattahoochee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Milton Eagles on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly two runs.

Drew O'Neill tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Kirkman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Caden Morris was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Chattahoochee pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs over those games. As for Milton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Chattahoochee will have a chance to go back-to-back against Milton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
