Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. Charles

St. Charles extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 14-4. They blew past the Montrose Rams 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ella Mose was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Abrielle Dinninger was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Ally Dinninger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

St. Charles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in eight consecutive games.

As for Montrose, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-11. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Montrose's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Hillard, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Coincidentally, St. Charles and Montrose will both be playing Genesee the next time they take the field. The Rams will host the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th.
