Softball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Springfield Catholic hit Sparta with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans fell 8-4 to the Fighting Irish. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in April.

Sparta saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raylee Dorman, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kinsley Berry was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Sparta dropped their record down to 10-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Springfield Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Sparta nor Springfield Catholic have any future games scheduled.
