7A Region 4 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Marlin Jones Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Starting off the list is Huntsville's Marlin Jones, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Jones rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (109.5). He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run.

If the past is any indication, Jones could be in store for another big game when he takes on Albertville on Thursday. Jones rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry the last time he and the Aggies duked it out back in October of 2023.

Jabari Davis Turns in Season-Best Effort

Sadly, Jabari Davis posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Sparkman over Bob Jones on Friday. Davis rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023. He is becoming a predictor of Sparkman's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

With the defeat, Sparkman broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-4. Davis will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant performance when he faces off against James Clemens on Friday.

Malachi Foster Has Career Rushing Day

Malachi Foster produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Bob Jones to the win on Friday. Foster rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

Foster might have his next game, a home matchup with Albertville, circled on his calendar. When Foster last faced the Aggies back in October of 2023, he picked up 60 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Davis Posts Huge Game in 38-13 Win

Jl Davis was instrumental in extending Austin's winning streak to six on Friday. Huntsville had no answer to Davis as he threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.

Austin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Davis and Austin will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against James Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
