The Beech Grove Hornets will square off against Irvington Preparatory Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Beech Grove and Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Hornets came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 8-5 on Wednesday. The game was the first time the Hornets have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 18, 2023.

The team relied heavily on James Gann, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davion McDonald, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Irvington Preparatory Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They blew past the Wolves 14-2. Considering Irvington Preparatory Academy has won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brayden Meredith and Matthew Brooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Meredith struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Brooks pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meredith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Meredith got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Brooks got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Cortez Jenkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Jenkins is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbyn Eaton, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Irvington Preparatory Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence Cristo Rey only posted an OBP of .278.
Irvington Preparatory Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Beech Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
Beech Grove came up short against Irvington Preparatory Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
