Softball Game Preview: Salem Lions vs. Brownstown Central Braves

The Salem Lions will take on the Brownstown Central Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Salem sitting on six straight wins and Brownstown Central on seven.

Salem is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Eastern. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Brownstown Central was able to grind out a solid win over Austin on Thursday, taking the game 9-5.

Shyla Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Meahl, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Kinzee Dean was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Salem's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Brownstown Central, their win bumped their record up to 17-13.

Salem suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Brownstown Central when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
