Preview: Winnsboro Raiders vs. Mineola Yellowjackets
The Winnsboro Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Mineola Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Winnsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Mineola likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, everything went Winnsboro's way against Pottsboro as Winnsboro made off with a 52-28 win. Fans of Winnsboro have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Meanwhile, Mineola really took it to Bonham for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-13 win on the road. Mineola pushed the score to 41-13 by the end of the third, a deficit Bonham had little chance of recovering from.
Mineola got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braydon Alley out in front who rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. Alley's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Colton McMahon, who gained 268 total yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Winnsboro to 7-0 and Mineola to 3-4.
Winnsboro skirted past Mineola 39-36 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mineola's Dawson Pendergrass, who rushed for 302 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 26 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Winnsboro to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
