Basketball Recap: Coronado Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Coronado came into Friday's game having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 58-52 W over the Tempe Buffaloes on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Dons: when they faced off against the Buffaloes back in January, they had to take a 62-31 loss.

Tempe's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damon Broadnax, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. Broadnax has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Sa?Veon Mccrimon was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals.

Coronado's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for Tempe, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coronado will square off against Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastmark knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Coronado likes a good challenge. As for Tempe, they will face off against Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tempe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.
