Baseball Recap: Renville County West Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bottineau on Saturday, Renville County West came back down to earth. The Jaguars fell just short of the Ortonville Trojans by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jaguars have suffered since May 20, 2024.

Renville County West saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Howard, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. Howard is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Austin Rice, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Renville County West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15-1 record this season. As for Ortonville, their record now sits at 5-8.
