Baseball Game Preview: South Lake Eagles vs. Lake Minneola Hawks

South Lake hasn't had much luck against Lake Minneola recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when South Lake Eagles take on Lake Minneola Hawks at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, South Lake came up short against Boone and fell 6-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lake Minneola came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.

Colson May tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fabian Antosanti was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Nolan Bultema also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lake Minneola pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for South Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

South Lake came up short against Lake Minneola in their previous meeting on March 4th, falling 11-6. Can South Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
