Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Comes Up Short

Mount Dora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ducks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2016.

Leading Cornerstone Charter Academy to victory were Devan Domadia and Derick Augustin. Domadia went 5 of 11 en route to 20 points, while Augustin posted 22 points and seven boards. The matchup was Domadia's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Conde, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

Mount Dora's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they moved to 5-7 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Mount Dora didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-41 defeat against Orlando Christian Prep on the 14th. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-57 loss against Faith Christian on the 14th.
