Preview: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Papillion-LaVista Monarchs
Bellevue West is 8-2 against Papillion-LaVista since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bellevue West Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 7:15 p.m. Bellevue West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matchups -- so hopefully Papillion-LaVista likes a good challenge.
Even though Sunrise Christian Academy scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Bellevue West still came out on top. Bellevue West came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunrise Christian Academy and snuck past 62-60. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Bellevue West has scored all season.
Bellevue West's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Jackson, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 1 assist. Jacob Arop was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Lincoln Southeast 63-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Bellevue West's win bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Papillion-LaVista, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
Everything came up roses for Bellevue West against Papillion-LaVista in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 86-50 win. Does Bellevue West have another victory up their sleeve, or will Papillion-LaVista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
