Basketball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Clark Eagles

The Taft Eagles will face off against the Clark Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Taft came up short against Phillips and fell 63-56.

Meanwhile, Clark came up short against Lincoln Park on Tuesday, falling 64-41. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Lions are ranked 13th).

Taft has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Clark, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Taft didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Clark in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taft since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
