Basketball Recap: Early County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Early County duked it out with Calhoun County on Wednesday. The Early County Bobcats took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calhoun County Cougars. The Bobcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Despite the loss, Early County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cardeja Watts posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Watts a new career-high. Nakevia Brown was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Early County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 26 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Early County's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Calhoun County, their record is now 14-9.

As of now, neither Early County nor Calhoun County have any future games scheduled.
