Softball Recap: Slippery Rock Comes Up Short

Slippery Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Franklin Knights. Even if the Rockets couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Delaney Staab led a balanced group of hitters, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Emma Ritz also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Slippery Rock's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Franklin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slippery Rock will challenge Sharon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hickory at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
