Baseball Preview: North Marion Huskies vs. Robert C. Byrd Eagles
The North Marion Huskies will head out to challenge the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games North Marion has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Tuesday, North Marion didn't have quite enough to beat Lincoln and fell 7-6.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Robert C. Byrd). Everything went their way against South Harrison on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-8 victory. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Ashton Shaffer was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Floyd, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Robert C. Byrd has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for North Marion, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
