Football Game Preview: Ware Shoals Hornets vs. Dixie Hornets

Ware Shoals hasn't had much luck against Dixie recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Ware Shoals will host Dixie at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ware Shoals comes in on seven and Dixie on five.

Ware Shoals is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-0 win over McCormick. Considering the Hornets have won four contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ware Shoals' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Trent Dyal was especially locked on to McCormick's QB and sacked him three times. Dyal has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last eight times he's played. Another thorn in McCormick's side was Elijah Brown, who made 17 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Dixie and Whitmire, and Dixie kept the tradition alive. The Hornets blew past the Wolverines, posting a 49-12 victory. That 37 point margin sets a new team best for the Hornets this season.

Dixie's win came from a few key players Ware Shoals will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brandon Nance, who rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Dallas Dotson, who gained 116 total yards and three touchdowns.

Dixie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 360 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 168 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Ware Shoals' win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Dixie, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
