Soccer Game Preview: Saugatuck vs. Covenant Christian

The Saugatuck Trailblazers will venture away from home to take on the Covenant Christian Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Saugatuck is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Holland/Black River just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. Neither they nor the Dutch could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result kept Saugatuck happy, as they haven't lost a game since April 21st.

Meanwhile, Covenant Christian hadn't done well against Calvin Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Chargers won by a goal and slipped past the Squires 2-1.

With that draw, Saugatuck's record moves to 7-2-1. As for Covenant Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Saugatuck came out on top in a nail-biter against Covenant Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trailblazers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
