Basketball Recap: Narragansett Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Narragansett had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past the East Providence Townies 60-40. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Narragansett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delaney Bonneau, who shot 67% from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and four steals. Bonneau is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Caffrey, who went 8-for-12 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Narragansett was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Townies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Harmonie McDowell, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 20 points. The last time McDowell's field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Bernard, who posted four points and ten boards.

Narragansett's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.9 points on average over those games. As for East Providence, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.

Narragansett wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-44 win against St. Mary Academy-Bay View on the 8th. As for East Providence, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-37 loss against La Salle Academy on the 8th.
