Football Game Preview: Shelbyville Dragons vs. Timpson Bears

The Shelbyville Dragons will square off against the Timpson Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Shelbyville didn't have quite enough to beat Garrison and fell 35-33.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Hunter Harvey, who picked up 172 receiving yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 33 yards. He was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 53 yards. Gavin McDonald was another key passer, throwing for 332 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt.

Meanwhile, while Timpson put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Hemphill. The Bears blew past the Hornets 55-0. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

The victory got Timpson back to even at 3-3. As for Shelbyville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Shelbyville barely slipped by Timpson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 58-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bears' Braylon Parker, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, and also threw for 106 yards on seven of 13 attempts. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Dragons still be able to contain Parker? There's only one way to find out.
