Basketball Recap: Bayard Comes Up Short

After soaring to 67 points the game before, Bayard was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They were beaten by the Leyton Warriors 63-14. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Alec Watchorn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Leyton, going 6-for-11 to rack up 17 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Watchorn a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Calvin Borgmann was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Bayard's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Leyton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Bayard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-58 loss against Garden County on the 19th. As for Leyton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 78-39 defeat against Hemingford on the 20th.
