Basketball Recap: Ridge Spring-Monetta Comes Up Short

Ridge Spring-Monetta was the 60-54 winner over Williston-Elko when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans and the Williston-Elko Blue Devils didn't end well, with the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans falling 45-26. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Ridge Spring-Monetta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaiden Holloway posted 15 points and eight steals. Holloway has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Briston Matthews was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Ridge Spring-Monetta dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Williston-Elko, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Ridge Spring-Monetta will be playing at home against Blackville-Hilda at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williston-Elko, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-48 defeat against Bamberg-Ehrhardt on the 16th.
