Preview: Bishop O'Dowd Dragons vs. Capital Christian Cougars
The Bishop O'Dowd Dragons will face off against the Capital Christian Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop O'Dowd has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 325 points over their last five contests.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bishop O'Dowd ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged Berkeley out 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Bishop O'Dowd has posted yet this season.
Samuel Chavarin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Miles Dixon was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Capital Christian beat Clayton Valley Charter 63-50 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Capital Christian.
Bishop O'Dowd's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Capital Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Bishop O'Dowd beat Capital Christian 78-67 in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop O'Dowd since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
