Football Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Walnut took on Biggersville on Friday. The Wildcats took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Xae Mayes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Biggersville, throwing for 157 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 127 yards and one score on only five carries. Mayes' longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Demri Gunn was in the mix too, providing Biggersville with two touchdowns.

Walnut now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Biggersville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Walnut and Biggersville will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats will challenge rival Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Biggersville is set to face off against their familiar foe Tupelo Christian Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
