Baseball Game Preview: Dayton Greendevils vs. Holmes Bulldogs

Dayton hasn't had much luck against Holmes recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Greendevils will head out to face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Dayton has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Dayton's offense. They lost 16-0 to Villa Madonna on Tuesday. The Greendevils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dayton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Massey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Holmes hadn't done well against Bracken County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 10-7 win over the Polar Bears. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.

The victory snapped Holmes' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-21 record. As for Dayton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

Dayton came out on top in a nail-biter against Holmes when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greendevils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
