Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Academy Eagles vs. Medomak Valley Panthers

The Lincoln Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Medomak Valley Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Lincoln Academy nor Medomak Valley posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Lincoln Academy and Erskine Academy finished up their match with a 2-2 tie.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Medomak Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Oceanside get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Thursday.

Medomak Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristian Schumann, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Medomak Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. With that tie, Lincoln Academy's record moves to 0-8-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lincoln Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Medomak Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Lincoln Academy might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Medomak Valley when the teams last played back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
