Baseball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Victory Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Russell Christian Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-7. The Eagles have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Carter Chatman put in work no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Victory Christian Academy: the team is 6-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Wyatt Bowman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Easton Durden, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Victory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Russell Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
