Preview: Hanahan Hawks vs. West Ashley Wildcats

Hanahan has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Hanahan Hawks and the West Ashley Wildcats will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Hanahan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.

Hanahan struggled with threes on Wednesday (Stall had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hanahan took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stall. Hanahan has not had much luck with Stall recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Hanahan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylah Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, and Bri Johnsen who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The game was Hughes' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Adams, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, West Ashley ended up a good deal behind Wando two weeks ago and lost 53-35.

Despite the loss, West Ashley had strong showings from Lacy Gerald, who scored 12 points, and Ella Crowe, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Hanahan's record now sits at 7-5. West Ashley's record now sits at 2-6.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hanahan have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for West Ashley, though, as they've been averaging only 20.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
