Volleyball Recap: Southern Falls to Falls City in First Game of Season

Southern unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Falls City Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Southern sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 23-25, 25-23.

Ellasyn Kotinek paced Southern's offense, picking up six kills. Kotinek also shared the team's lead in assists with Charleigh Belding: they picked up eight each. Kotinek was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Coincidentally, Southern and Falls City will both be playing Johnson-Brock the next time they take the court. The Tigers will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Raiders will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
