Football Recap: Georgetown's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Georgetown dropped to 8-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 60-52 to the Cedar Park Timberwolves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (50), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Georgetown still got an impressive performance from Jett Walker, who rushed for 176 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Walker's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

As for Cedar Park, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Cedar Park was led to victory by Trae Samuel Frost Hill and David Cooper. Samuel Frost Hill gained 270 total yards and five touchdowns, while Cooper rushed for 146 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. Cooper's passing game has become a key predictor of the Timberwolves' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Porter, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Georgetown and Cedar Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Eagles will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (213 vs. 595). Meanwhile, Cedar Park (ranked 204th) will meet Tyler (ranked 429th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,023 yards in their previous games.
