Baseball Recap: Union City Comes Up Short

If Union City was feeling good fresh off their 13-1 takedown of Trimble County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Tornadoes came up short against the Fort Walton Beach Vikings on Thursday, falling 14-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Tornadoes have suffered since May 10, 2024.

Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Fort Walton Beach, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-11.

Coming up, Union City will host Gleason at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.07 runs per game on average), something the Golden Tornadoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will challenge Choctawhatchee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
