Volleyball Recap: St. Bede Bruins vs. Marquette Crusaders

St. Bede was the 2-0 winner over Marquette when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Bede Bruins took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marquette Crusaders on Monday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-13.

Marquette can attribute much of their success to Avery Durdan, who had eight kills, four aces, and a block. Durdan is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Backos, who had 11 digs.

St. Bede's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Marquette, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

St. Bede wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Roanoke-Benson on the 16th. Marquette has also already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Seneca on the 15th.
