Softball Game Preview: Minnechaug Regional Falcons vs. South Hadley Tigers

The Minnechaug Regional Falcons will challenge the South Hadley Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Minnechaug Regional has three straight wins, South Hadley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Minnechaug Regional's victory against Longmeadow wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Lancers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 20, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Veronica Ouimet, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Dionne, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Minnechaug Regional hit South Hadley with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.

The win got Minnechaug Regional back to even at 4-4. As for South Hadley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Minnechaug Regional beat South Hadley 5-1 when the teams last played on Tuesday. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
