Football Recap: Clearview Skates Past Oberlin with Ease

Clearview won the last time they faced Oberlin and things went their way on Friday too. The Clippers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Phoenix 40-7. Considering the Clippers have won three matchups by more than 29 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kameron Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 90 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. He is becoming a predictor of Clearview's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't). Germell (MJ) Wilson got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clearview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Clearview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Christian Stevenson and Braden Turner.

Clearview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.5 points over those games. As for Oberlin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Clearview will challenge Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 7.6 points per game this season, so the Clippers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oberlin, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Black River at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th.
