Basketball Recap: Jordan Christian Prep Skates Past Kathleen with Ease

Jordan Christian Prep hadn't done well against Kathleen recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks took their contest with ease, bagging a 78-44 win over the Kathleen Red Devils. This was payback for the Seahawks, who suffered a 79-57 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jordan Christian Prep was led to victory by Amelia Williams and Nana John Soumah. Williams dropped a double-double on 32 points and 22 rebounds, while John Soumah posted 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Jordan Christian Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natasha Durand-McClain, who had 11 points and five assists.

Despite the loss, Kathleen still got an impressive performance from Gabriela Villegas, who put up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Villegas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haley Roper, who posted 18 points.

Jordan Christian Prep pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Kathleen, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Jordan Christian Prep will take on Cypress Bay in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season. As for Kathleen, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Four Corners at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
