Baseball Game Preview: Chapin Huskies vs. Canutillo Eagles

Chapin hasn't had much luck against Canutillo recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Huskies will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Chapin was able to grind out a solid victory over Jefferson, taking the game 5-2. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Silver Foxes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Canutillo got the win against Burges on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Roman Ferniza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Canutillo got a big performance out of Daniel Luna, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Dupri, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Canutillo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Chapin, their record is now 10-14.

Chapin suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Canutillo when the teams last played back in March. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
