Softball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is East's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

East won the last time they faced Skyline and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Leopards were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Eagles. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Amaiah Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kiley Griggs and Loisi Ete did most of the damage at the plate: Griggs went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Ete went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Griggs a new career-high. Ana Martinez also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

East hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline struck out eight times.

East is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Skyline, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-14 record.

East didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-8 victory against Granger on the 2nd. As for Skyline, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-1 defeat against Olympus on the 1st.
