Softball Recap: Hayfield Vikings vs. Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights

It was a good run, but Hayfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 17-7 walloping at the hands of the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights. Hayfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kenyon-Wanamingo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Kennady Rutledge made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Leonora Bamlet was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

On Kenyon-Wanamingo's side, Josie Flom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off 13 hits. Flom has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings every time she's pitched this season. Flom was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs.
