Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Yorkville Foxes

Having just played yesterday, the Plainfield South Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Yorkville Foxes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Plainfield South came up short against DeKalb and fell 54-45. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Barbs are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Yorkville posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2024 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Joliet West with a sharp 71-50 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Foxes just coasted through the last quarter.

The victory (which was Yorkville's third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Plainfield South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Plainfield South might still be hurting after the 65-39 defeat they got from Yorkville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Plainfield South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
