Park City is 0-10 against Tooele since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. Park City will head out on the road to take on Tooele at 3:30 p.m. Park City has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Park City came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-1 to Skyline.
Olivia Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tooele had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 16-1 victory. With that win, the Buffaloes brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Jaelyn Woods looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Hunter Culley was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Ashton Shields was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Tooele kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.
Tooele's record is now 5-7. As for Park City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Park City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. However, it's not like Tooele struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Park City might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Tooele when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Park City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
