Basketball Recap: Portal Comes Up Short

If Portal was feeling good fresh off their 59-34 takedown of Claxton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Portal Panthers and the Bryan County Redskins didn't end well, with the Portal Panthers falling 44-26. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, with their most recent defeat being a 55-41 loss back in January.

Despite the defeat, Portal saw an underclassman step up: sophomore London Blackmon posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Portal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Portal's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Bryan County, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Portal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-45 defeat against Metter on the 14th. As for Bryan County, they have also already played their next game, a 45-43 loss against Screven County on the 14th.
