            Softball Recap: Elgin Maroons vs. Aurora East Tomcats        
        
		
        
        
            Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Elgin). Everything went their way against the Aurora East Tomcats on Thursday as they made off with  a  15-6 victory. The Maroons haven't had any issues with the Tomcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive  win against them.

 Braedyn Tetrev was a major factor no matter where she played. She  struck out eight batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and five unearned) runs off   three  hits. Those  eight  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 In other batting news, Elgin got a  massive  performance out of  Ainesly Downing, who  scored three  runs while going 3-for-4.  Grace Tetrev was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
 Elgin  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .531. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
Elgin's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Aurora East,  they are  on  a  12-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
 Looking ahead, Elgin will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheeling  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Aurora East, they are taking a road trip to  challenge Larkin  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
