Baseball Recap: Pickens Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Pickens Academy got themselves on the board against Aliceville on Thursday, but Aliceville never followed suit. They blew past the Aliceville Yellowjackets 15-0. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Dalton Crowe and Griffin Hudson made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Crowe pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hudson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crowe has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Crowe went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Hudson scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most hits Crowe has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Brayden Sansing was incredible, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Pennington, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Pickens Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pickens Academy's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Aliceville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pickens Academy will square off against Hubbertville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Hubbertville has won three straight at home, while Pickens Academy won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Aliceville will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pickens County at 6:00 p.m. on March 31st.
