Purvis' loss ends three-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Lawrence County Cougars

The Purvis Tornadoes lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. Their tough 50-29 loss to Lawrence County might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Purvis in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Purvis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was A'Niyah Reynolds, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Systren Eliza Elenus, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Purvis' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Lawrence County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Purvis will take on the Aggies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forrest County Agricultural is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Columbia is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
