Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Clovis North's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Clovis West typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Clovis North proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. Considering the Broncos have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jocelynn Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Kniss, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zoey Thomas, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Clovis North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clovis West only managed four hits.

Clovis North is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clovis West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Clovis North nor Clovis West have any future games scheduled.
