Recap: Marion Swamp Foxes vs. Barnwell Warhorses
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Marion Swamp Foxes can now relate to. They took a 31-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of Barnwell. It was the first time this season that Marion let down their fans at home.
Marion's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quay?Sheed Scott, who gained 167 total yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Cusack, who threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
Barnwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Sturkie led the charge by picking up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Cameron Austin was another key contributor, throwing for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
Marion's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Barnwell, they have yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 8-5 record.
Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Barnwell will take on Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oceanside Collegiate Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
